In July of 2014 my brother and sister-in-law came for a visit. I can't seem to find the photos from my camera of our SUP adventure or of the town of Sirmione, so these are a few off of my phone. Sirmione is, in my opinion, one of the most beautiful towns along lower Lake Garda. It is typically flooded with tourists, so parking further away is more ideal.
We started our day on the lower part of the peninsula, where we tried stand up paddleboarding [SUP]. It was my first time and I loved it. Lake Garda is also a perfect spot because there are not many waves and the water is crystal clear. It looks like it is only 1 meter deep when it is much deeper in reality. The water was perfect and the sun was out. PJ took several spills into the water, and Eric had his moment as well, but the girls did great.
We then drove towards the centro and parked in one of the street lots. The walk took us a little while but it was worth it. It has been around since the Stone Age and has quite a history. While it has a great beach area, it also has a beautiful castello and many gorgeous cobblestone streets and stone buildings. We had lunch and wondered around the center. It was a great day….if only I could find those pictures!
