Pordenone was our last stop before heading to the airport and then home. It is located in the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region not far from Udine. The name means 'port on the river Noncello'.
Pordonone was part of the Habsburg family during the 14th century and in the 16th century it was handed over to the Republic of Venezia. After WWII the city became a garrison for many military units in order to prevent a Soviet invasion from the east. The military population boosted the economy in the area, which had fallen into a slump prior to this, and is currently home to the 132nd Armored Brigade "Ariete"
The town is also known for the Giornate del cinema mutt, which is a silent film festival dating back to 1981.
It is a great place to walk through but doing it during 100 degree heat is a little uncomfortable. We still managed to enjoy the architecture and beauty, although the gelato may have helped!

Below is the progression of Reesey begging for some gelato [completely off topic from the town]. Enjoy!
Step 1: Find the target |
Step 2: Make a funny face (cuteness goes a long way) |
Step 3: If funny face doesn't work give them the stink eye (intimidation might work) |
Step 4: Move in closer and keep your eye on the prize |
Step 5: Extend your tongue and hope it catches some gelato |
