September 5-6, 2015
The Expo Milano 2015 includes over 140 countries and was designed around exhibiting each locations technologies and ways that they "guarantee healthy, safe and sufficient food for everyone, while respecting the Planet and its equilibrium". The focus is food and therefore visitors are able to taste the best dishes from each country as well as learn about the many different traditions and sustainable technologies.
We bought a two-day pass and stayed about 20 minutes north of the expo, using the train to commute back and forth. It was another hot weekend in Italy, but the sweat was worth it. The expo is large, so wear comfortable shoes, and crowded, so it can take a while to get into some pavilions. The UAE pavilion took us over two hours in line before we entered into the exhibition, but I think it was the best one throughout the whole expo. We were able to walk through many of them, while some of them we opted to just try the food or a drink.
We had lunch in Mexico on day one and the 1.5 hour wait was worth it. Good Mexican food is hard to come by in Italy so we were overly excited! We ate at the Vietnam pavilion for dinner and it was delicious. The second day we tried to play it a little cheaper and just had some munchies and then some french fries from Belgium [because those are my favorite!]. All of the food in the expo is overpriced, but what else would one expect when visiting something like this?

We were able to see inside of:
Austria
Brazil
China
Czech Republic (great sunset from the roof!)
Estonia
Korea
Monaco
Turkey
United Arab Emirates
United Kingdom
United States
and maybe a few other that didn't have lines…
We tried to visit Germany, Russia and Thailand but the lines were too long. We also tried to wait at the Poland pavilion but the line was long and slow and we had others pavilions to see. Instead we opted for a Polish beer and a tatanka. We did walk through the ground floor of the Spanish pavilion, but it was to get to the fresh sangria at the Spanish bar. A lot of the other exhibitions looked great too, but we only had a day and a half and waiting in line so many times can wear thin. We were able to walk around and see the outside of almost all of the pavilions though.
